Description

A spicy pizza that throws convention out the window. Traditional marinara sauce is switched out for Hatch Red Chile sauce, then topped with spicy toppings such as spicy pepperoni and chopped Hatch Green chile. Simple and delicious!

Ingredients

  • Pizza dough or premade pizza crust for 12-inch pizza

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/4 cup Hatch Red Chile sauce (or homemade)

  • 2 cups of freshly shredded mozzarella cheese

  • toppings such as spicy sausage, spicy pepperoni, Hatch green chile, red onion, olives, etc.

  • 1 tablespoons dried oregano

  • 1 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

  • cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Move an oven rack to the bottom of the oven and place a pizza stone or flat baking sheet on it. Set your oven to heat to 500 degrees F.

  2. Prepare your pizza dough by flattening and rounding it to desired shape. Move it to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal. Poke the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbles from forming in the oven. Brush the dough with the olive oil.

  3. Spread the red chile sauce over the dough, leaving about 1 inch bare around the edge for the crust. Sprinkle the mozzarella over the sauce. Place toppings over the mozzarella as desired. Sprinkle the oregano and parmesan cheese over the entire pizza, including the crust.

  4. Place the pizza onto the pizza stone or baking sheet by gently shaking the handle of the pizza peel to slide it onto the pizza stone. Adjust the heat to 475 degrees F and bake for approximately 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is light golden brown and the cheese is melted. Use the pizza peel to remove the pizza and let it cool for about 2 minutes. Slice and serve.
