These beautiful little Sparkling Sugared Cranberries are a cinch to make and can be used to decorate just about anything during the holidays!

How to Make Sparkling Sugared Cranberries

Getting the look of these cranberries involves a couple of different kinds of sugar. You’ll use regular granulated sugar and water to make a sugar-water syrup. Mix in the berries and let the mixture cool a bit.

After cooling enough to handle, separate the syrup and berries with a strainer. Place the sticky berries onto parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and separate them out.

I found that by mixing granulated sugar with the larger crystals of Organic White Sugar in the Raw, the sugar mixture covered the sticky berries beautifully and still gave me the sparkle I was looking for!

Rolling the berries around in the sugar is tons of fun; if you have kids I’d definitely get them involved!

Description

These festive and beautiful Sparkling Sugared Cranberries make a lovely garnish for just about any meal or holiday decor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar + 2 tablespoons, divided
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 3 tablespoons Sugar in the Raw (or substitute turbinado sugar)

Instructions

  1. Place a clean wire cooling rack or a non-stick silicone baking mat on your work surface. Combine 1/4 granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-high until the mixture reaches boiling point, then remove from heat and stir cranberries in the syrup. Allow the cranberries to sit in the syrup for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Place a strainer over a bowl and pour out the syrup and cranberries. Place cranberries on your prepared wire rack or baking mat. Stir together the remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and Sugar in the Raw. Place a few berries in the sugar mixture at a time and roll around to coat, placing sugared cranberries back on the rack or mat. Repeat with remaining cranberries. Refrigerate in a covered container for up to 3 days.
